Year 9 2024 – applications are closed and due to large numbers on the waiting list, we are not able to accept any late applications.
Year 9 2025 and 2026 applications are now closed. Please contact Admissions if you wish to discuss late applications for this year group.
If you would like your child to be considered for a place at Hurst Senior School please complete the online Registration Form together with payment of the non refundable registration fee. This will reserve a place for your child in the year group required, but does not guarantee a place. Please register your child at least three years prior to when you would like them to join.
Registered pupils looking to join Hurst at 13+ (Year 9) will be asked to sit the online ISEB Common Pre-tests in Year 6. These tests are age standardised computer tests which measure ability and attainment and include Verbal and Non-verbal reasoning, Maths and English and are designed so that pupils cannot prepare for them. For more information on these tests please visit the ISEB website.
Pupils usually sit these tests at their Prep School and they will liaise with you about the timing. For pupils who attend non-Common Entrance schools we will arrange for the tests to be completed at Hurst. For pupils who live outside the UK, we will discuss arrangements with individual families.
On completion of the pre-entry tests, Hurst will discuss the results with the pupil’s current school and look at their academic progress as well as their involvement in extra-curricular activities. Pupils are invited to an assessment and experience day in January/February of Year 6 where they will participate in a carousel of activities which include physical, cerebral and creative tasks and have informal interviews. Based on this information, offers are made by the end of March of Year 6.
