Head of Boys' Sport (Yr 3-8)
Mr Ben Dewey (BSc)
Mr Dewey is Head of Boys’ Sport for Years 3 to 8 and a teacher of PE and BTEC Sports Science in the Senior School. He is a Level 2 qualified RFU coach.
Mr Dewey has worked at Hurst since 2016 when he joined the Prep School Sports team as Head of Boys’ Sports.
Sport has always been a big part of his life, having taken part in rugby, football, and athletics from an early age. Rugby became his main sport and he has played for East Midlands U16 and U18, Sussex Rugby Senior 2nd XV and Burgess Hill RFC 1st XV as Captain (2013-17).
Mr Dewey is also a keen cricketer, runner, and cyclist.
Head of Girls' Sport (Yr 3-8)
Mrs Holly Hayman (BSc)
Mrs Hayman is Head of Girls’ Sport for Years 3–8 and has seven years’ experience teaching and coaching within sport and education.
Mrs Hayman graduated from Swansea University with a BSc (Hons) in Sport and Exercise Science, before completing her PGCE at Buckingham University.
Mrs Hayman has held key leadership roles including Head of Academic PE and Head of Lower School Games, where she developed a strong commitment to creating inclusive participation, building student confidence, and creating a culture in which every pupil can succeed and enjoy sport.
A lifelong hockey enthusiast, Mrs Hayman has competed at both county and regional level, including several South of England tournaments. She currently plays for Lewes Hockey Club, where she also served as Club Captain.
In addition to hockey, she is a keen runner and completed the London 2026 Marathon. She also enjoys wild water swimming and hiking.
