Remove & Fifth Form (Years 10 & 11)

In Remove (Year 10) and Fifth Form (Year 11) all students study for GCSEs. The curriculum is split into two parts: core subjects and optional subjects.

The core academic subjects are:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Physics

These subjects account for 60% of lessons in the Remove and Fifth Form.

Up to four optional GCSE subjects complete the remaining curriculum time and at least one of these subjects must be chosen from the following list: Computer Science, French, Geography, History, Latin, RS and Spanish.

Optional subjects:

  • Art & Design
  • Classical Greek
  • Computer Science
  • Dance
  • Design & Technology (DT)
  • Drama
  • French
  • Further Mathematics
  • Geography
  • History
  • Latin
  • Music
  • Physical Education (PE)
  • Religious Studies (RS)
  • Spanish
  • English as a Second Language

Our students can obtain up to 11 GCSE grades at the end of the Fifth Form (if Further Mathematics is taken) but this number may be lower depending on the ability of the student and their progress.

Students receiving scholarships in Art, Dance, Drama, Music and Sport are required to study those subjects at GCSE.

Students also have Citizenship lessons in the Remove year which aim to prepare our students to develop the skills and knowledge needed to play an active part in society, whilst at school and beyond. We encourage our students to engage in politics and current affairs as well as exploring a range of topics such as diversity (including a discussion of the Black Lives Matter campaign), human rights and the economy.
