Cricket

Training

Hurst has a rich Cricketing history and is a major sport for both boys and girls in the Summer term.  Our vastly experienced and qualified staff run a variety of sessions across the week for all age groups.  Invitational sessions are also run for those in performance programmes, whilst each age group runs several teams to cater for all abilities.

Our winter programme begins in September and includes group and 1-2-1 coaching sessions followed by pre season training before fixtures begin in the summer term.

Fixtures and competitions

Fixtures take place every Saturday and during mid week in the Summer term. The fixture list is competitive across the South East of England as well as competing in County and National Cup competitions for U14, U15 and U18. Our girls programme has grown significantly in recent years where we run 6 hardball teams from U14 to U18 playing block fixtures and competing in National Cup competitions. During the winter we play indoor girls cricket in the ECB national competitions.

Whether you are new to the game, play club cricket or represent a county, we will provide you with the opportunity to learn, develop, achieve and excel. Playing cricket at Hurst is a positive and an enjoyable environment for all. Mr Nash, Head of Cricket

Fixtures start in January with the Lady Taverners indoor tournament followed by various matches and tournaments for all ages in the Summer term. Hurst girls can also play in the boys’ squads.

We currently have six teams in the senior school (1st XI, 2nd XI, U15AB, U14AB) and they play both mid-week and Saturday fixtures. Recently we have attained the notable fixture for our 1st XI against the MCC (Marylebone Cricket Club) which is now a regular fixture in our diary.

Facilities

The College boasts 7 Cricket Grounds and 15 artificial nets as well as 4 cages and a 3 bay professional netting system allowing for grass wicket practices in the Summer term. During the winter our sports hall has 6 nets which are fully utilised during the Michaelmas and Lent terms.

I don't think I would have been able to play the high level of sport that I have without coming to Hurst Jonty Jenner, Sussex CCC and Jersey International Cricket Team
