Strength and Conditioning - Hurstpierpoint College

The Athletic Development department at Hurst delivers safe, effective and fun bespoke strength and conditioning programmes for a wide range of Sports, physical or rehabilitation outcomes in a broader aim to enable lifelong participation in sport and exercise.

Foundation to Performance

We support the long term athletic development of all pupils from the ages 11 to 18 years, with special attention to developing general qualities that are specific to their sport and developmental needs through our carefully curated, evidence based Youth Physical Development framework. In addition, we work alongside our pupils and sport coaches to test and monitor physical condition and wellbeing relative to KPI’s in a broader aim to mitigate injury incidence and progress physical development.

Rehabilitation

We collaborate closely with our Player Welfare team or external physios to safeguard pupils progress through ‘early-stage’ rehabilitation to ‘return to play’ programmes.

Programme Service

Any pupil can book in a 1-2-1 and receive a bespoke programme to train for their sport or achieve a physical / rehabilitation outcome. Pupils are guided personally through their programmes to ensure understanding and safety when completing supervised and unsupervised sessions during the holidays.

Facility Access

While plans are in place for a brand new state of the art facility in 2025, the school provides a fully equipped gym in a temporary facility which are fitted with top of the range cardio-vascular training equipment and resistance training weights.

All pupils are supervised by our Strength and Conditioning team when using the gym.
