This year’s Young Enterprise participants at Hurst have launched their own clothing brand, Naesh Apparel, as they take on the challenge of running a small company. Young Enterprise is a national charity that helps young people develop practical business skills, build confidence, and gain experience through real commercial activity.
The Hurst team have chosen to design and sell branded hoodies as their main product. To support their early fundraising, they also created a selection of Christmas baubles for seasonal sales. On Friday 6 December, the pupils set up a stall in Horsham for their first day of trading. They engaged with members of the public, introduced their brand, and gathered feedback that will help them refine their approach. Although trading conditions were tough, they remained committed and made several sales during the day.
After this initial outing, the group plan to broaden their product range and establish an online presence. This will allow them to reach more customers and build momentum as they progress through the Young Enterprise programme. The market research collected in Horsham will support their decisions on future designs, pricing, and presentation.
Their focus now turns to the regional sales event in London on Monday 24 February. The team are preparing for this occasion, which will give them a further chance to present NaeshApparel and apply the skills they have begun to develop through their early trading experience.
The pupils involved have shown determination, teamwork, and a willingness to adapt as they learn each stage of the process. Their work so far has offered a clear introduction to entrepreneurship, from managing stock to speaking confidently with customers. We look forward to seeing how Naesh Apparel evolves over the coming months as the team build on these experiences.
