Year 8 Challenge 2023 - Hurstpierpoint College

After a full day of training the Year 8s had their first night under canvas at school before setting off the following day to begin the long walk back to school from Eastbourne.

However, a massive thunderstorm and downpour meant everyone had to exit their tents at 5am the until the weather warnings had ended. This meant a slightly later start and a shortened walk on the first day but did mean the weather was then clear and mercifully cooler for the rest of the challenge.

The walking groups were superb and quick to complete the routes each day which allowed more time for evening fun and games at the campsites, which is always the best part.

Everyone got back to school safely on Thursday, tired by happy having completed the challenge and ready for the Thorpe Park trip the next day.

Once the students arrived at Thorpe Park, the pupils were able to pick their way around the park choosing which rides they wanted to go on depending on whether they wanted to freshen up on the water rapids, seek thrills on Swarm or simply be scared witless on Stealth!

The whole day was a wonderful way to end Year 8 and lots of memories were made.
