The Penultimate week of school finished with splitting the year group in two. Group one went to Hove Lagoon Water Activity Centre and group two went to Blackland’s Farm Outdoor Education Centre, swapping over in the following days.
At Hove Lagoon, the day involved a four-part carousel of water activities that included sailing, raft building, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), and windsurfing. At the start of each session, the pupils received some basic training and then had a go for themselves.
From the repeating periods of considerate listening followed by shrieks and laughter, it was clear all the pupils were fully engaged and had a great time! The staff were excellent and pitched the training and activities perfectly, so everyone had an enjoyable experience.
At Blackland’s Farm Outdoor Education Centre, a 500-acre site near East Grinstead. Activities here included archery, bushcraft, and orienteering; testing map reading, shooting, and construction skills as well as developing personal skills such as leadership, teamwork, and respect.
A hot and challenging couple of days but rewarding ones, allowing time for exploring and reflecting and setting up pupils well for their transition into Year 8. It was a super finale to a great year.
