U12 IAPS Girls Hockey Finals - Hurstpierpoint College

U12 IAPS Girls Hockey Finals

The U12 girls’ hockey team travelled to Bristol to compete in the U12 IAPS girls’ hockey finals at the start of December, hosted by Clifton College. As an automatic final, this tournament is always unpredictable, with schools from all over the UK competing.

Hurst made a strong start in their first game and continued to perform at a high level, despite some extremely tough opposition. The team did not lose a game until their final pool match, something to be extremely proud of. A somewhat defence focused pool round, and only one loss, saw Hurst progress to the Plate competition. Already a fantastic achievement and securing a place in the top 16 (27 schools competing in total) Hurst came up against Millfield in their first knockout game. A well contested match saw this game go to extra time and then a golden goal; a very nerve wracking and intense situation for 11- and 12-year-olds! Hurst managed to take the win with a well-aimed deflection in front of goal.

Unfortunately, despite some excellent performances throughout the day, Hurst were unable to hang on to progress to the plate final and were knocked out in the semi-final by Farleigh School, who went on to win the plate competition.

A fantastic day of hockey and a performance the school and the team should be proud of! Kristina Money, Head of Prep School Girls Sport
