Hurst College achieved third place overall out of 400 schools in the international maths competition Puzzle of the Week for 2019-20 – with first place finishes for Years 10 and 12.
Puzzle of the Week was launched in 2016 and is the brain child of a UK-based former maths teacher. The inspiration for the competition came whilst the maths teacher was working at a grammar school where they ran a Puzzle of the Week.
Students worldwide submit answers to a puzzle which is published weekly on Mondays and closes at midnight on Sundays. School and student performances are recorded and leader boards are published. Emails are sent to each student who enters telling them how they did and teachers can see information about their students on their school’s live feedback document.
