Sporting Success

Henry R: Cricket

Following a successful summer for Hurst, securing a total of 594 runs and 24 wickets, Henry represented Sussex 2nd XI making several high scores including a career-best 140 against Glamorgan.

These strong performances led to him being selected for England U19s playing ODIs against Ireland and then Australia, a fantastic achievement for a 17-year-old.

Having impressed during these fixtures, Henry was then selected for the England Schools v MCC Schools at Lords in September, where he scored 166 from 141 balls on his first innings at ‘the Home of Cricket’.

Henry’s consistent performances didn’t go unnoticed, and he was rewarded with his first professional contract with Sussex CCC in October.

Henry has since been awarded the English Schools Cricketer of the Year which includes a full sponsorship from Gray Nicolls!

Daphne P: Cricket

After a consistent summer for both Hurst and Kent girls, Daphne was selected for the South East Stars Emerging Player Programme 2023/24. On several occasions last summer, Daphne was integral to the Hurst Girls 1st XI, ensuring they made match-winning scores, and she also performed strongly with her seam bowling.

Ronan D: Rugby

Ronan D was selected to be part of the U18 England Rugby team and was chosen for their summer series tour to South Africa in July. Ronan has since represented England, playing in all three test matches. Ronan ultimately won ‘outstanding forward of the game’ against South Africa.

Oli D: Rugby

Oli is regularly going back and forth between Sussex and Wales for his rugby. He is working hard in the ‘Welsh Exciles’ pathway and gaining notoriety and recognition in Welsh regions including ‘Scarlett’ and ‘Cardiff Blues’.

Alongside this, at the end of the summer, Oli represented Wales U18 playing in games against Scotland, Ireland, and Italy. During the latest half-term he attended the Wales U18 training camp.
