SISNA Netball Success

Over the past few weeks Hurst have hosted several of the SISNA tournaments despite cancellations due to the weather.

1st VII

The 1st VII team had a brilliant day, winning all their games against Seaford, Lancing College, Christs Hospital, Ardingly College, Worth, Mayfield, Brighton College and Eastbourne College, making it a clean sheet. Ardingly, however, did give the team a good run for their money bringing the match to them.

This was the last winning SISNA for the Upper Sixth and it was a great one for them to finish on. Everyone played well with a full squad effort and the team is looking forward to the second half of term.

U16A

The U16A team played brilliantly for their tournament, winning all but one of their games. The team played Roedean, Bedes, Brighton Girls, Christs Hospital, Seaford, Lancing College, Brighton College, Burgess Hill Girls and Ardingly College. The team lost to Seaford 11-12. The girls were 7-1 down and had a massive come back, but unfortunately just ran out of time. Well done to Seaford who were particularly strong.

Seaford went on to play Brighton College and unfortunately lost, meaning that Hurst and Brighton College finished on equal points. Due to having a better goal average, Brighton College took the gold. We are so proud of the U16s for taking second place.

U15A

Despite the first day being cancelled and the rescheduled date being wet and windy conditions, the team adapted well and played an excellent round of netball against Windlesham, Brighton College, St Andrews, and Mayfield. Despite drawing with St Andrews, the team won their group to play Westbourne House in the semi-finals to take the win.

For the final, the girls were against Roedean, who they lost to the week before. Despite the girls being nervous, they played some brilliant, composed netball to take the win by a single point. Well done to the team for their hard work and achievement on winning the gold.

U14A

The U14s also had very wet conditions to play in, however this didn’t bother the team or disrupt their usual standards of netball. Their group rounds consisted of Roedean, Brighton Girls, Eastbourne College, Mayfield and Bedes. The team drew with Roedean, however they won their group on goal average taking them to the semi-finals against Brighton College, and to secure the win.

The final was a nail-biting match against a very strong Seaford College making it with a 10-10 draw, adding extra time. The girls gave their last burst of energy and proved how much they wanted to win 13-11 in extra time!
