PSHCE Morning - Hurstpierpoint College

PSHCE Morning

This year’s PSHCE morning took place just before half term, when pupils took part in a wide variety of activities covering global citizenship, social media, health and wellbeing.

Pupils in Years 3 to 6 followed a programme of ‘One World’ modules. This included discussions and activities looking at equality, education, environmental changes, energy resources, the challenges and possible solutions to a greener lifestyle and better support of our environment both locally and globally. The modules will continue, and conclude, during the Summer PSHCE Morning, looking at roles as global citizens of the future.

Year 7 and 8 pupils started their morning together in the New Bury with a debate-style discussion posing the question: Should children under 13s be allowed to use social media? Year 7 then returned to their form rooms to widen their understanding of coercive behaviors and to find out the immense benefits of a good nights’ sleep and the role it plays in their progress and development. Year 8 were asked to consider whether protests are necessary to instigate change and also given strategies to help support their own mental health and that of those around them.

All pupils and tutors engaged fully with the programme and numerous conversations continued over lunch.
