Hurst Swimming Success - Hurstpierpoint College

Hurst Swimming Success

Hurst Swimming team travelled to Whitgift school in Croydon to take part in the annual invitation gala. The team secured several individual wins and relay wins and as a result, the girls’ team placed 2nd, just missing out on the cup by 2 points. The boys’ team also performed well with a high number of personal best swims and great teak spirit shown throughout the event.

The team then travelled on to Stratford to compete in the National Bath and Otter cup at the London aquatic centre. Continuing the great run of form the girls’ team secured places in both finals improving their time from heat to final. The girls showed real quality setting school records in both relay events and gaining some fantastic experience to take forward. The boys’ team again showed great character and swam excellently in both their relay events. They claimed several places on both relays, and all swam the best times in the swims.

The swimmers were resilient and worked for each other throughout both the Whitgift Invitational and the Bath cup.

Next swim team fixture: Brighton College Invitational meet.

We are really pleased with the results and attitudes of our swim team during both events. It is really pleasing to see the progress and confidence building in our team and to place so highly in a national event for our girls in both the freestyle and Medley relays is very encouraging. We will build on this across the next year and aim to place even higher at the next event. Stephen Murphy, Head of Senior School Swimming
