Felbridge Show Jumping Competition 2022 - Hurstpierpoint College

On Saturday 3rd of December, Hurst students travelled to Felbridge for a NSEA (National Schools Equestrian Association) show jumping competition. This was an important show for Hurst Equestrian as it included team and individual qualifiers for County Championships and Hickstead Elite. The day started with our youngest rider Rosie, aged just 7, competing in the 70cm individual class on her pony Victor. She jumped very well, but a few Sat Nav errors left her out of the placings.

Hurst’s 80cm Team had impressive results, finishing with a score of zero and placing 4th. Sadly this was not a high enough placing to qualify, but still very respectable in the competitive class. Well done to Henry, Lyla, Isla and Lars. Lyla jumped an incredibly speedy round on her pony Betty with several very impressive turns meaning she also picked up 5th individually.

Both teams competing for Hurst in the 1m class saw fantastic results. Team Hurst Pink won the class, qualifying them for Hickstead Elite and the County Show Jumping Championships held in May, where they will represent West Sussex. Congratulations to Freddie, Harriet, Lauren, and Ralf. Team Hurst White also performed incredibly well, finishing  on just 4 faults and in 3rd place. Well done to Morten, as well as Harriet, Lauren and Ralf who were all on their second rides for the class. Lauren rode an incredibly fast round on My Time IV winning the class and qualifying her individually to represent West Sussex in the County Championships.

The day ended with the 1.10m horse and pony classes, and four students representing Hurst over the largest fences of the day. Freddie and Ralf jumped great rounds on their horses, but both unfortunately knocked a pole leaving them on 4 faults and out of the placings. Emma and Lauren both competed on their ponies, but a challenging line caught Emma out meaning she finished on 4 faults. Lauren achieved her fourth rosette of the day with Eloclea, finishing in 5th and as the highest placed rider from West Sussex which qualifiers her for another spot at the County Championships.

By the end of the day Hurst brought home two wins and six placings overall. A huge congratulations to all riders for yet another fantastic day of jumping.
