Cadet Forces Military Equitation Competition 2022 - Hurstpierpoint College

Cadet Forces Military Equitation Competition 2022

Lower Sixth student Harriet B represented Hurst’s Combined Cadet Force (CCF) in the Cadet Forces Military Equitation Competition at Flemish Farm (home of the Honourable Artillery Company’s Light Cavalry).

The aim of the event is to provide an introduction to military equitation. Assessing how a rider adapts to riding an unfamiliar horse, how competently they ride and their ability to deal with any horse issues that may arise.  Competitors were marked in a number of areas, including their riding position, control of and affinity with the horse, and their military bearing.

After an excellent performance, Harriet scored 44 points out of a possible 50 to take first place and was presented with the Catton Salver (previously awarded to the Best Cadet Forces Competitor at the HAC Uniformed Services Show Jumping Competition).

A fantastic result, and a first for Hurst's CCF team. Plt Off Harry Briggs, Deputy Contingent Commander
