Sports Day live-streamed - Hurstpierpoint College

Sports Day at Hurst is one of the highlights of the Summer term and this year it was the final event of a year like no other. With prize giving split into individual year group events, Sports Day was moved from the usual final Saturday slot to the following Monday afternoon. There was still staunch competition between houses, plus a lovely social send off in a year when face-to-face social activities were limited.

Family and friends were not able to attend in person, however the event was live-streamed by our friends Cheers Mate Productions. With excellent commentary from Mr Chadwell and Mr Gasper, those who logged on experienced the sights and sounds of the events as they happened. A recording can still be accessed at www.hppc.co.uk/live which also includes the throwing events which were not live streamed on the day.

As for the results, Red Cross fought valiantly in the boys’ competition to become overall winners. There were also a number of excellent performances by Red Cross’s Remove and Fifth Form which saw them run away with the intermediate trophy by 32 points. The girls’ competition was a much closer affair with first place chopping and changing between Shield and Pelican throughout the afternoon and which came down to the relays. Shield were the overall winners, even though they did not win any of the age groups. Pelican won the senior and intermediate trophies, and secured fifth place in the juniors, but that was not enough to sneak the overall title again.
