Dr Stephen Lewis

Dr Stephen Lewis is a full-time independent Sports Physician and part of Hurst’s Player Welfare team.
He is also the doctor for Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club and Chief Medical Officer for Sussex Cricket.
Stephen completed his Masters in Sports and Exercise Medicine in 2004 after originally training as an orthopaedic surgeon. He has worked in elite sport since 2002 including eight years in international rugby as Head of Medicine for the England women’s rugby team and 11 years in the premier league as the doctor for Fulham Football Club. He has also held posts covering Masters Tennis, clinics at the English Institute of Sport, Soccer Aid, and several years working in Rehabilitation Medicine for the Armed Forces.
He has expertise in both acute and chronic musculoskeletal problems, recurrent injuries and patients with conditions proving difficult to diagnose. He advises patients on recovery and injury prevention strategies.

Paul Paredes
Sport & Exercise Therapist (BSc)
Paul is a Graduate Sport & Exercise Therapist and a valued member of Hurst’s Player Welfare team. With a degree from Leeds completed in 2016, he has since gained extensive experience in professional sports. Paul has worked with teams like the West Indies Cricket Team, Sussex Rugby, and Brighton & Hove Albion FC, as well as providing player welfare services to schools in the South East.
Paul’s primary focus and passion lie in helping individuals return to their sport. He enjoys working with both individuals and teams, providing player welfare services during fixtures and injury clinics. His approach emphasizes functional treatments and rehabilitation to ensure athletes can resume their activities effectively.
