Year 8 Design and Technology pupils completed their final DT project in the Prep School, creating innovative LED lights.
Pupils delved into the world of manufactured boards, focusing on plywood and its production process. Using templates, they accurately marked out the three layers of their plywood base, which they then cut using scroll saws. The next step involved soldering together their electronic circuits, which were cleverly concealed within the plywood layers.
The pupils also showcased their design skills by creating the acrylic part of their lights using TechSoft Design, a 2D computer-aided design program. These designs were then cut and engraved on a laser cutter, adding a professional touch to their projects.
The completion of these LED light projects marks a significant achievement for the Year 8 pupils, highlighting their skills in design, technology, and innovation.
