Y e a r 8 C a r e e r s A f t e r n o o n
In order to broaden their horizons and improve their understanding of the world around them, Year 8 pupils spent their Careers Afternoon exploring ‘behind the scenes’ at the College.
Pupils took part in four sessions, covering Marketing, Finance and HR, Catering, and Grounds. With the Catering team, they toured the kitchens and gained insight into the quantities of food prepared daily at Hurst during a quiz (while enjoying a slice of cake).
In their session focused on Finance and HR, students learned about the diverse range of roles at the College and discovered just how many people are employed to keep Hurst running.
The Grounds session gave pupils an overview of the numerous maintenance tasks the team plans and completes, especially in preparation for the new academic year.
Finally, while learning about marketing, pupils stepped into the role of Head of Marketing for their own fictional companies. They enjoyed creating logos, designing packaging, and strategically allocating advertising budgets.
All in all, a brilliant afternoon exploring the inner workings of Hurst.
