Year 6 pupils enjoyed a hands-on science adventure at Drusillas Park, where they explored the wonders of the animal kingdom and deepened their understanding of “Living Things and Their Habitats.”
The trip offered a unique opportunity for pupils to bring their classroom learning to life. From animal encounters to an engaging adaptions workshop, the day was packed with excitement and discovery.
During the animal encounters, pupils observed a wide range of species up close, noting their distinctive features and behaviours. From camouflaged reptiles to furry mammals, the children saw first-hand how animals are adapted to thrive in their environments.
A highlight of the day was the adaptions workshop, where pupils explored how animals use camouflage, specialised body parts, and behavioural traits to survive. The sessions sparked thoughtful questions and lively discussions, as pupils connected their observations to their science lessons.
Throughout the trip, pupils demonstrated curiosity, enthusiasm, and a strong grasp of scientific concepts. Their ability to link classroom knowledge with real-world examples made for a memorable and enriching experience.
The visit to Drusillas not only reinforced key learning but also inspired a deeper appreciation for the natural world and the incredible diversity of life within it.
