Year 4 Visit Wings Aviation Museum - Hurstpierpoint College

Year 4 pupils embarked on an unforgettable educational journey during their recent visit to the Wings Aviation Museum, where history came vividly to life. The trip offered a hands-on exploration of World War II, allowing pupils to deepen their understanding of the era through immersive experiences and authentic artefacts.

During the visit, children had the rare opportunity to handle genuine WWII items, including a ration book, a rifle, and a gas mask. These tangible pieces of history sparked curiosity and thoughtful questions, showcasing the pupils’ impressive depth of knowledge and engagement.

The highlight of the day was stepping into the roles of wartime heroes. Pupils explored various war planes and took on responsibilities as navigators, pilots, and soldiers preparing for deployment. This interactive approach helped bring the realities of wartime to life in a meaningful and memorable way.

The experience not only enriched their historical understanding but also inspired a deeper appreciation for the sacrifices made during WWII.
