Year 3 pupils stepped into the world of Ancient Egypt during a full day of immersive activities that blended history, art, and hands-on learning.
The day began with an exploration of Egyptian hieroglyphs, where children discovered how the ancient writing system worked before creating their own printed hieroglyphs on papyrus. Enthusiasm ran high as pupils experimented with symbols, inks, and traditional techniques.
Pupils then learned about Ancient Egyptian clothing and burial traditions, designing and decorating their own tabards. Inspired by artefacts from ancient tombs, they carefully coloured their garments before beginning work on their own death masks, echoing the craftsmanship of Egyptian artisans.
In the afternoon, the excitement continued as pupils completed their masks and tabards before moving on to create scarab necklaces.
