SPS Science Fair - Hurstpierpoint College

Pupils in the SPS demonstrated their creativity, collaboration, and scientific curiosity during the annual Year 8 Science Fair, an event that brought together months of planning, experimentation, and presentation.

Working in groups, pupils were tasked with designing and carrying out their own scientific investigations. From the earliest stages, pupils were encouraged to think like scientists—developing hypotheses, researching background information, and carefully planning their methods before testing their ideas in practice.

Each project culminated in a professional display board, featuring six panels that clearly communicated the investigation. These displays included essential sections such as a title, summary, hypothesis, scientific background, method, results, conclusion, evaluation, and references. The format ensured that every group presented not only their findings but also a clear, structured account of how they arrived at them.

Presentation days proved to be a highlight of the event. Each team was given a 10-minute slot to showcase their work to teachers and peers, with every group member contributing to the explanation of their project.
