Year 8 pupils made a meaningful difference across the local community during this year’s Community Action Day, taking part in a range of projects designed to support local organisations and improve shared spaces.
Pupils were split across several locations, each with a clear purpose and a strong sense of teamwork. At St Edward’s Church, pupils focused on revitalising the outdoor space, carrying out tasks such as clearing pathways, tidying planted areas, and helping to create a more welcoming environment for visitors and worshippers alike.
Meanwhile, another group rolled up their sleeves at Burgess Hill Rugby Club, where they took on a thorough clean-up of the grounds. From collecting litter to improving the overall appearance of the club, the pupils showed great enthusiasm and pride in their work, supporting a hub that serves many local people.
A coastal team travelled to Lancing Beach, where they contributed to keeping the shoreline clean and safe. Tackling litter along the beach, the group demonstrated a strong awareness of environmental responsibility, helping to protect local wildlife and preserve the natural beauty of the area.
Back on site at Hurst, Year 8 played an important role in supporting the HET Sports Day, ensuring the event ran smoothly for participating pupils. Their roles included assisting with activities and encouraging younger participants throughout the day.
