The Year 6 residential trip to PGL Little Canada on the Isle of Wight was an exciting and action-packed five-day adventure, offering the Year 6 pupils a chance to develop independence, teamwork, and resilience while having lots of fun.
Students departed Hurst feeling excited and a little nervous about the adventure ahead of them. Upon arrival at the PGL Centre, they were given a tour of the site, settled into their accommodation, and met their group leaders. After a welcome briefing, they participated in the first of the activities, whizzing down the zip wire and fencing before enjoying a hearty dinner. All the excitement was rounded off with songs and marshmallows around the campfire.
Days two and three were jam-packed with more activities, dragon boat racing, high ropes, a sensory trail, and buggy building to name a few; all high energy with breakfast, lunch, and dinner being always welcome.
The last evening combined a trip to the PGL shop for gifts for home (an essential part of any trip) and the silent disco, with any last bit of energy used up throwing shapes on the dance floor.
On the final morning, Year 6 participated in a last activity of the Giant Swing before packing up and saying goodbye to the PGL team. They took the ferry back to the mainland, stopped for ice-creams in the heat, and arrived back at Hurst in the afternoon—tired but filled with incredible memories.
The trip was a fantastic experience for the Year 6 pupils. It helped them build confidence, resilience, and friendships while enjoying a variety of adventurous challenges.
