Year 5 Residential Trip to Bowles - Hurstpierpoint College

Year 5 pupils enjoyed a truly memorable residential trip to Bowles, filled with excitement, challenge and adventure. Throughout the week, the children embraced a packed programme of outdoor activities that pushed them beyond their comfort zones and helped them develop new skills.

During their stay, pupils took part in a wide range of adventurous experiences, including skiing, climbing on the impressive sandstone rock face, archery and pool kayaking. Each activity offered opportunities for the children to build confidence, try something new and celebrate their achievements.

Team building was a key focus of the week, with pupils tackling orienteering, low ropes and the thrilling leap of faith. These challenges encouraged resilience, cooperation and communication, with children supporting one another and showing fantastic teamwork throughout.

Evenings were just as special as the daytime activities. A whole-group campfire brought everyone together to enjoy marshmallows, stories and games, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere. Residential life was embraced enthusiastically, with pupils taking pride in their dormitories and showing great commitment during inspections. There were many wonderfully tidy rooms – and plenty of smiles to match.

The Bowles residential trip was a brilliant opportunity for Year 5 to challenge themselves, grow in confidence and strengthen friendships. Most importantly, it created lasting memories that the children will treasure for years to come.
