Success all round for Hurst Equestrian team

Four members of the Hurst Equestrian team have been selected for international, national and regional representation across multiple disciplines, this summer.

Dressage

Mette will represent Great Britain at the Pony and Junior Dressage Europeans on George Clooney BS and Florina 146, respectively. She has opted to compete at the FEI Dressage Europeans Championships for Juniors in Oliva, Spain. Mette will compete against some of the very best combinations from across Europe, alongside three other team members. A fabulous achievement to have been selected on two different horses.

Show jumpers

On the show jumping circuit, Harry and Ryan have travelled the length and breadth of the country competing in the 148cm Gold League with Robe Ruah and Newtown Samson, respectively. Their dedication, determination and horsemanship has been rewarded with selection to represent England. Harry is on the team for the Welsh Home Pony at Wales and West Event Centre. Ryan is on the team for the Scottish Home Pony at the Scottish National Equestrian Centre. The boys will be competing against teams from Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

Eventer

Once lockdown lifted, eventer Martha on Kilconly Richie, has been competing at BE90 across Surrey, Sussex, and Kent. Her results included a win and second place at Chilham Castle and Horseheath. Martha’s consistency across the three disciplines has earnt her a place on the South-East of England Regional BE90 U18 team at the British Eventing Youth Championships. Held at Bishop Burton, there will be regional teams from all over the UK at BE90, BE100 and CCI2*.

Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the students worked hard during the winter lockdown to come out stronger than ever. The College community is immensely proud of them all and we wish them the very best of luck this summer.   Georgina Black, Equestrian Team Manager
