12 students from Year 9-11 take part on ski race training camp in Holland

A group of 12 students from Year 9-11 took part on a race training camp at Snow World in Landgraaf, Holland over half term.

Snow World has a FIS standard race training course where schools, clubs and national teams can set up and practice on the slalom courses. Our group had four days training with a warm-up session on the Saturday night. The squad was evenly split between experienced racers such as Toby V A, Max H, Marcus L to name a few, and newcomers Ted S, Orianne G and Dylan D-Q.

Each day was broken down into two-hour training sessions with a break in between for lunch and tea. Some days were long with 6.00 am wake up calls, which made for an intensive few days and all students slept soundly each night.

“We did find time to venture out to the local town for some shopping and some competitive indoor bowling, won by Toby’s team, as the staff were not much help!” Fred Simkins, Director of Outdoor Education.
