Sailing Team weekend trip - Hurstpierpoint College

Sailing Team weekend trip

The college sailing team set off from Portsmouth Harbour early morning on 30th July for a weekend trip. Although the worst of the weather held off, it was too windy to leave the harbour, so the team returned to the dock.

To utilise the time they had, the crew changed their focus to familiarising themselves with the navigation systems on the boat whilst they waited for the weather to pass. After lunch, a second attempt to venture out into open water was made, but this quickly led to a retreat back into the harbour. The team resorted to the tamer waters of the harbour to get some sailing under the belt for day one,

Next the team headed to Port Solent Marina for the night, navigating a technical lock to enter the port. After spending a night on the boat, which was surprisingly more comfortable than the team expected, they headed to Chichester, applying their new navigational knowledge gained on day one.

Despite the disruption caused by poor weather, the weekend trip was a success and enjoyed by all.
