Respect and Relationships Initiative - Hurstpierpoint College

Respect and Relationships Initiative

In light of recent events, the College has decided to raise awareness and help tackle the issues of toxic masculinity, lad culture/banter and a lack of empathy and respect between pupils in schools.

As a result, a Respect and Relationships Initiative has been launched, led by Andrew Daville (Housemaster of Crescent) and Beccy Bownas (Head of Geography and Sociology). The initiative is being rolled out to the College community through a number of events highlighting key changes within the school from the Pre-Prep to the Senior School, as well as the staff body.

A pupil group is being launched to take this forward, when members will work with their peers and other year groups. A number of guest speakers and workshops are planned for pupils in the Summer Term and beyond, as well as staff INSET sessions. These workshops and sessions aim to promote positive relationships and empathy between all members of the College community and to help better prepare pupils for life beyond Hurst.
