The day after the Summer Term ended, five students from the Fifth Form and Lower Sixth (who will be moving up to the Lower and Upper Sixth in September) travelled to Oxford for a University Open Day.
The trip gave the group the chance to learn more about the Oxford University educational system and the undergraduate admissions process. They gathered information on course choices, application routes, and what the Oxford Admissions team look for in prospective undergraduates.
The group also spent time in several Oxford colleges, to get a sense of undergraduate life and help them decide what college they might apply to. The visit also helped them consider what an Oxford education could offer, and encouraged them to think carefully about their next steps beyond Hurst.

Luke P said, “It was great to have the opportunity to visit The University of Oxford and the chance to speak with tutors directly, visit prospective colleges and attend course-specific talks. Alongside this, exploring the city in the sunshine and enjoying lunch in the Covered Market made for a very pleasant day. The Radcliffe Camera, Bodleian Library and Magdalen College were my highlights.”
