Upper Sixth student, Thomas D, continued his annual tradition and dedicated the month of November to raising funds and awareness for Movember, a charity supporting men’s mental and physical health. He set himself the challenge of running 60 km during over the course of the month, completing 2 km each day. The figure of 60 resonated with him, as Movemberreports that every hour 60 men take their own lives. This powerful statistic encouraged him to take action.
His fundraising efforts did not stop with his daily runs. Thomas also organised a Movember concert in the Music School, bringing pupils from across the Senior School together to support the cause. The programme included performances from soloists, duets, groups, and the show choir, with music ranging from Adele and The Smashing Pumpkins to a song from Chess the musical and a selection of original material. Audience members were invited to contribute through a donation page or by purchasing Movember pin badges, pens, or mugs.
The concert drew to a close with an unplanned performance of Just The Two Of Us, by Thomas, who encouraged the whole audience to sing along with him. It provided a warm and fitting end to an evening in support of such an important cause.
Thomas has already raised more than £2,000 for Movember, and donations can still be made: https://movember.com/m/14943968?mc=1
