Model United Nations

Lower Sixth students were recently invited to join a new society called Model United Nations (MUN).

Following a rigorous interview process, which involved analysing a task on artefact repatriation, 12 students led by Santiago R G, will now participate in fortnightly sessions. During the sessions, students will take on representation of a country and work with one another to debate the diplomatic issues of the day. This will prepare them for future conferences, held both locally and internationally.

Model United Nations is a simulation of the real United Nations organisation, when students from across the world come together at conferences to solve the current major political matters. These can range from resolutions aimed at combatting rising floodwaters, the use of drones in warfare and food crises, to issues of over-population and terrorism. With every school being given one country or institution to represent, MUN is an extremely prestigious opportunity which is highly coveted by both universities and employers.

This is such an exciting opportunity for our students and I cannot wait for them to experience it Kieran Nash, Teacher of Politics and History
