Pupils and staff came together on Friday 5 June for the much-anticipated annual JPS Fun Run, combining community spirit with a powerful cause. The event aimed to raise funds for Hope House Haiti, supporting children and families affected by the country’s ongoing humanitarian crisis.
With bright energy and enthusiastic participation, runners of all ages took part in the fun-filled event across the school grounds. The atmosphere was one of determination and unity, with pupils’ keen to make a meaningful difference far beyond the school gates.
This year’s fundraising effort supports Hope Christian Academy in Haiti, a school that continues to operate despite extremely challenging circumstances. Haiti is currently facing severe instability, with large parts of the country under the control of rival gangs. Essential services such as water, electricity and healthcare have largely collapsed, leaving communities struggling to survive amid widespread famine.
The school provides more than 550 children from surrounding villages with free education and a daily meal—often the only reliable food they receive. For these children, the support generated by initiatives like the Hurst JPS Fun Run is not just helpful, but essential.
Thanks to the generosity and commitment of the Hurst community, this year’s event raised over £1,650.
