¡ Hola Granada ! - Hurstpierpoint College

¡ Hola Granada !

After landing in Granada, the group’s first evening saw them visit the famous ‘Mirador de San Nicolas’, for their first glimpse of the Alhambra. Students enjoyed exploring the city through a scavenger hunt, and later got stuck into Spanish culture; over the course of the trip, highlights for the students included them taking Spanish lessons, digging into ‘menú del día’ lunches (ordering in Spanish!), and trying ‘tapas’ and ‘churros con chocolate’ in local restaurants.

Towards the middle of the week, the students enjoyed a guided tour of the iconic Alhambra palace, during which they discovered a huge amount about Spanish history, especially the ‘Reconquista’. Towards the end of the trip, students checked out a ‘tetería’ in the Arabic quarter of the city. Wrapping up the adventure, the student attended a fantastic Flamenco show in the ancient caves of the city.

It was an amazing journey where everybody got to see the lovely Granada under the October sun and warmth of southern Spain, practice some solid Spanish, and get a real feel for Spanish culture! Jorge Garcia Marcos, Head of Spanish
