GB sailing team success for sixth former

Lower Sixth student, Hugo V, has been selected for the Youth Summer GB Sailing Team in the 420 class.

The selection for this team recognises Hugo’s potential to progress within British Youth Sailing to the senior British Sailing Team and into the Olympic Development programmes. He was selected based on performance and commitment to a programme of training and competition over a required period. This establishes Hugo’s status as a British Youth Sailor who will represent Great Britain at major international events throughout the summer.

A member of the Royal Yachting Association, Hugo has been sailing for nine years and competitively for six seasons. He is also a member of Shoreham Sailing Club and competes around the rest of the UK as well as internationally. He has already competed for Great Britain at events in Spain, Italy and France.

Currently ranked third overall in the UK, this is Hugo’s second season as a member of the British 420 performance squad. At the most recent British events, Hugo and his helm have finished second and third, respectively.

Hugo has been selected to compete at the European Championships in Poland and the World Championships in Spain, this summer.
