The Hurst Equestrian Team kicked off the new academic year in spectacular fashion at the Felbridge show, securing five impressive wins and seven qualifications for the upcoming NSEA Championships in October.
The event marked one of the final opportunities for riders to qualify for the national championships, and Hurst riders rose to the occasion with determination and skill.
In the show jumping ring, the 70cm team of Darcey G, Rosie C, Annabel J, and Lily A, delivered a flawless performance to claim first place and secure their team qualification. It was a particularly special moment for Annabel and Lily, who were representing Hurst for the first time. Darcey also shone individually, placing third and earning her spot in the 70cm individual championships.
The momentum continued in the 80cm class, where Darcey, Rosie, and Annabel returned as a trio and clinched another team win with a clear round and swift time. Annabel impressed in her debut at this height, while Rosie placed sixth individually.
Later in the day, the 1m team of Morten D, Lars D, and Scarlet SH, added a third team victory to Hurst’s tally. Brothers Morten and Lars delivered near-perfect rounds, finishing first and second respectively, with just 0.19 seconds separating their times. Both riders qualified individually for the 1m class.
In the Jumping With Style (JWS) ring, Olivia S made her debut with a graceful clear round in her first JWS class. Although she missed out on placings, her performance showed great promise. Ralf B closed the day with a standout ride in the 1.10m JWS class, earning 140 out of 150 style marks and winning the class to qualify individually.
By the end of the competition, Hurst had secured three team wins, two individual victories, and seven championship qualifications; a remarkable achievement and a promising start to the season.
