Entrepreneur Speaker Series - Hurstpierpoint College

The first Entrepreneur Speaker Series of the academic year welcomed OJ, Linus Deluca-Perry, who returned to the College to share his experiences since leaving in June 2020. After completing a BSc in Physics with Theoretical Physics at Imperial College London, Linus graduated in July 2024 and has since begun his career as an Analyst at BlackRock. Alongside this role, he has launched his own venture, LDP Solar.

LDP Solar is developing translucent solar panels designed for use in solar greenhouses. These aim to support both agricultural production and renewable energy generation, offering a practical response to environmental and economic challenges within the energy sector.

During his talk, Linus spoke candidly about the value of gaining industry experience through a day job, explaining how this can provide important insight into how businesses operate and support more informed entrepreneurial thinking. He went on to stress the importance of presenting yourself appropriately to potential investors and customers within your chosen industry, and how this can influence early opportunities. Linus also highlighted that coming to terms with what is realistic and what is not helps guide decision-making as ideas develop. He encouraged students to use their time at university to explore interests, build momentum, and develop strong interpersonal skills. Together, these themes offered a clear and grounded perspective on entrepreneurship, rooted in purpose, teamwork, and informed decision-making.
