In a heartwarming and educational production from Reception, Year 1, and Year 2, Eddie the Penguin discovered that his icy home was melting due to climate change. Determined to find a safer place for his family, Eddie embarked on a journey to the North Pole. There, he met Peggy Polar Bear and learnt that human activities were causing the ice to melt. Eddie’s mission to save the planet and raise awareness about environmental conservation was brought to life through a creative and eco-friendly performance. The children brought great characterisation to their roles and sang each song beautifully, using actions to reinforce key messages from the story. In keeping with the environmental theme, the pupils and production team made a conscious effort to reduce, reuse, and recycle materials for costumes and props, even crafting some items by hand. The pupils wore an array of wonderful self-made headdresses to portray their penguin and polar bear characters.
This inspiring production not only entertained but also educated the pupils and audience on the importance of taking action to protect our planet. Eddie the Penguin’s adventure is a reminder that every small effort counts in the fight against climate change.
