Hurst pupils, staff, governors, and guests gathered in Chapel on Friday for the Installation of Bishop Humphrey Southern as Provost of Hurstpierpoint College and three fellow Woodard schools.
The service celebrated the start of Bishop Humphrey’s ministry among the four schools in his new Provost role. Following a formal presentation by the Heads and Chairs of Governors from each school, Bishop Humphrey was installed by the Senior Provost, Matt Bullimore.
For Hurst, the service offered pupils and staff the chance to welcome Bishop Humphrey to the College and to recognise Hurst’s place within the Woodard tradition.
Bishop Humphrey brings extensive experience in church leadership and education. He is a former Bishop of Repton and served for ten years as Principal of Ripon College Cuddesdon, one of the Church of England’s leading theological colleges.
The College looks forward to working with Bishop Humphrey in the years ahead.
