Update to A-level exams to be sat in the summer of 2023
Hurstpierpoint College has adopted linearisation as widely as possible, with the vast majority of our students studying three (or, very occasionally, four) subjects from the beginning of their Sixth Form studies in Year 12. In addition, most pupils in Year 12 follow an additional pathway alongside their three subjects, ranging from completing an EPQ, to a Gold Crest award or an additional qualification.
Our Year 12 students do not sit AS-levels. This is in order to limit the disruption to learning caused by a prolonged national exam season with no tangible contribution to final A-level grades. Instead, Hurst students sit internal exams at the conclusion of Year 12. The results of those exams, in consort with performance data over Year 12 and the first term of Year 13, forms the basis for Hurst’s predicted grades.
Any institution wishing to receive examples of exam questions or sample work from individual students, used as the basis of these predicted grades, is welcome to contact the Head of Sixth Form at Hurst, brian.schofield@hppc.co.uk. Any further queries on Hurst’s provision in Years 12 and 13 should also be directed to that email address.
