At the start of November, the Music department presented the first series of their termly Prep School Informal Concerts. These concerts offer a wonderful opportunity for our younger students to step out of their comfort zones and perform in front of family, friends, and staff in a relaxed, low-stakes, and supportive environment. Students of all abilities are encouraged to take part, with some performers having only recently started learning an instrument. For many, it was their first-time performing solo in the Music School Hall.
The first concert featured Year 5 and 6 students, followed by Years 3 and 4, and the final concert showcased Years 7 and 8. It was particularly impressive to see some Year 7 students, who are new to the school, perform in their first term—an outstanding achievement! The music spanned a wide range of genres, including pop, classical, and musical theatre, with performances full of musicality and expression. It was clear to see how much the students have developed through their practice this term. The variety of instruments on display was also wonderful, and it was especially heartwarming to witness a few musical duets—particularly impressive in the Year 3 and 4 concert.
Huge congratulations go to everyone who performed. Many thanks to everyone who attended the concerts and supported our students so warmly in their musical journeys. Your continuous support is much appreciated by the students and by the Music department.
