Super Schools Swimming League Round 3 - Hurstpierpoint College

The third round of the Swimming Super League took place in January with 20 teams from Sussex and Surrey competing across five gala events. Hurst was proud to host one of these galas, welcoming teams from Seaford College, Charterhouse School, and Cardinal Newman School.

Having placed a very close second in both Round One and Two against last year’s winners and runners-up, the Hurst team consisting of four girls and four boys in each age category, entered Round Three in strong form despite missing some key swimmers due to injuries.

The event opened with the 100m Individual Medley, where Hurst took 1st place in the girls’ race and 2nd in the boys’ race. Next came the six Medley Relays, featuring teams of four swimmers, each competing in one stroke in the following order: Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, and Freestyle. Hurst delivered an impressive performance, winning four out of six relays, with standout swims across the board.

The competition then moved on to the individual stroke events, where our swimmers continued to excel, securing numerous victories. The day concluded with the exciting squadron relays, a high-energy race comprising six 50m Freestyle legs. Each relay team included two swimmers from each age category. Hurst finished 2nd in both the girls’ and boys’ relays, narrowly missing the top spot.

Overall, Hurst achieved their best points tally of the season, finishing just three points behind Cardinal Newman. The final scores were 252 points for Cardinal Newman and 249 points for Hurst, marking an exceptional performance by our team.

Round Four is set to take place in February, with the Grand Final scheduled for March 14th at K2 Crawley. The final standings and A and B final placements will be determined after Round Four.
