As part of their studies, 156 academic drama students travelled to London’s iconic West End across two nights to see Stranger Things: The First Shadow at the Phoenix Theatre. The trip provided the students with the opportunity to see the production with it’s original London cast before they parted ways for new adventures.

The Phoenix Theatre, famous for its retro vibe that compliments the Stranger Things 1980s setting, proved to be the perfect venue for this thrilling production. The show, one of London’s hottest tickets, delivered on all expectations, captivating students and staff alike with a powerful combination of storytelling and cutting-edge technical brilliance.

It is said to be the most technically advanced theatre production staged in modern times, Stranger Things: The First Shadow wowed both the everyone in attendance. Students and staff alike were dazzled and even the school’s technicians, who attended to gain insights into theatre tech, were left speechless by the groundbreaking set design, lighting, and special effects.

Now back at Hurst, students are eager to reflect on and review this remarkable experience as part of their coursework.
