Lower Sixth DT Projects - Hurstpierpoint College

The Lower Sixth Design Technology students presented their stadia projects at the start of February, which they had been developing over the past five months. Their work has been guided by a live project brief, with site visits to key local venues and regular input from industry professionals. These experts returned to the College to review the students’ final designs.

The students showcased their work to a panel that included Mike Lawless, a local architect; Robert Ebdon, Estates Director at Lord’s Cricket Ground; and their client, Mr Mott. Each student had the opportunity to discuss their design in detail, receiving valuable feedback from these specialists on how their concepts could be translated into real-world applications.

Despite the hectic afternoon of last-minute adjustments before the event, the students found the experience to be an invaluable insight into architectural design. They were inspired by the diversity of designs presented, especially considering all students worked from the same brief. Both Mr Ebdon and Mr Lawless praised the quality of the designs, describing them as the “best ever,” and noted that the work was at a level comparable to first-year university projects.

In recognition of his exceptional work, Jacob W was named “Designer of the Month” for his innovative design. Staff and students are invited to view the projects in the Design Technology foyer after half term.
