In October, Fleur-de-Lys took the crown for this years House Music Competition with their rendition of Like A Prayer by Madonna which was said to be a standout performance with their great harmonies, excellent intonation, good tone and timbre alongside their sharp choreography. The adjudicator said that it was a very tough decision as the standard was high from all Houses.
This year, each House was paired with a brother or sister House to create unique co-educational team. While each House performed its own House Shout song individually, these paired Houses joined forces to form a House Ensemble, a collaborative performance group showcasing the spirit of teamwork and unity. In a further twist, each House’s success was linked to the performance of its paired House, making the competition more intense than ever before. Winners, Fleur House paired with Crescent House to form the house combination of Fleurescent.
Throughout the first half of Michaelmas term, students and staff in houses were dedicating countless hours to rehearsing and perfecting their harmonies, musicality and even choreography in attempt to secure the winning title.
