Freshly Pressed Fun - Hurstpierpoint College

Children from both the Farm Club and Woodland Club gathered for a fun and educational apple juice pressing workshop with Ms Peach, Mr Filkins and Ms Brotherton. The workshop featured a hands-on experience where the pupils picked fresh apples straight from the farm’s orchard before diving into the traditional three-step process of making their very own apple juice.

The process began with the students chopping the apples, ready to be crushed. Taking it in turns, the students then used a ‘crusher’ to crush the apples ready for the final step of pressing them to extract the juice. Finally, and most importantly to the children, they got to taste the delicious, homemade apple juice they had worked so hard to create. The kids were thrilled to sip on their freshly made juice, each one proudly holding a new Hurst Water Bottle to commemorate the day.

It was a memorable experience, combining the joys of nature, teamwork, and the satisfaction of making something from scratch. The children left the workshop with big smiles, eager to return for more farm and outdoor education adventures!
