At the start of February, the Remove Geographers ventured into Brighton for an enriching fieldwork expedition as part of their Urban Environments module in the IGCSE course. The students explored four distinct sites across the city, engaging in a range of fieldwork techniques designed to deepen their understanding of urban geography.
During their visit, students conducted interviews with local stakeholders, meticulously recorded patterns of urban land use, and measured environmental quality. They also employed various essential geographical methods, allowing them to engage directly with real-world urban dynamics. This immersive experience provided an invaluable opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting, reinforcing key geographical concepts through firsthand observation and data collection.
Following their fieldwork, students have been actively working on presenting and analysing their findings. Through mapping, data interpretation, and evaluation, they have been sharpening their geographical skills and developing a deeper understanding of urban environments. The process has also enhanced their ability to draw meaningful conclusions from their observations, preparing them for the future.
