The Junior Girls team competed in the next round of the English Schools Cross Country Cup on Wednesday, 13 November, at the Judd School in Tonbridge.
The weather was surprisingly mild for a cross-country race. The sun shone, the wind was still, and though the air was crisp, it carried the first hint of winter. Over 90 individual athletes from 17 schools competed in the Junior Girls category, with Hurst’s athletes rising to the challenge and fought hard in an extremely competitive category.
The standout performance came from Oriana DR, who finished 38th with a time of 12:47. She ran a well-paced race, gradually moving up the ranks as the race progressed. Clementine LS followed closely behind in 44th place with a time of 12:54, delivering a strong and determined performance. A flurry of Hurst girls then stormed through the course, almost one after another, demonstrating excellent teamwork by supporting each other throughout. Freya W finished 83rd in 13:58, Isis OF placed 84th with a time of 14:03, and Martha H completed the race in 86th with a time of 14:05. Despite an inspiring effort, unfortunately Lily A was forced to pull out due to injury.
“ I am really proud of the girls. They had great comradery, consoling one another when required and supported each other through their performances. Hurst did not progress to the next stage of this competition, but I am so impressed with their level of effort. Well done. ” Mr Jeffery, Head of Athletics
